How does a Finnish sauna work?
The principle of the Finnish sauna is essentially still the same as before. Water is poured over the stones heated by a stove. The room has a temperature of 90° Celsius and a humidity of 30%. The heat is transferred to your body through the air. Due to the relatively low humidity, this heat is easy to bear.
For many guests, the authentic Finnish sauna is a regular part after a day of walking or cycling. Not surprising, because this sauna has a positive effect on, among other things, the muscles, joints, airways and skin. Perspiration and promotion of blood circulation contribute to an efficient removal of waste products from the body. Regular visits to the sauna activate and strengthen the immune system.
Cooling down is an essential part of the Finnish sauna ritual. After you leave the warm sauna, cool your body down in our cool-off shower and relaxation area.
5 reasons to regularly go to the sauna
1) Sauna strengthens your immune system
When you regularly visit the sauna, you will notice that your body can handle temperature changes better. With intensive sauna use you train the immune system. This way you stay fitter and you are less susceptible to diseases and (flu) viruses.
2) It's a safe place to be
Several scientific studies have shown that virus activity decreases at a temperature between 40-60 degrees. In a sauna of 80 degrees, thermal disinfection even takes place and viruses are killed within a minute. The sauna could therefore be one of the safest places in this time!
3) A visit to the sauna works well against stress
Stress is unhealthy for the body and makes you more susceptible to illness. A day in the sauna ensures that you go home relaxed and relaxed and you feel like you have been on holiday for a week!
4) Sauna has a cleansing effect
One of the best-known benefits of a regular sauna visit is that you help your body 'detox', also known as detoxification or cleansing. Because your body temperature rises, you sweat and waste products are removed faster. Your body is, as it were, 'washed clean'.
5) It creates a feeling of happiness
In addition to all the positive effects on your body, it has been scientifically proven that the body's own substance 'Serotonin' increases in the blood during a day in the sauna. Serotonin is a substance that makes you feel happy and relaxed. A happiness hormone that ensures that you feel even more relaxed.
